    Camshaft questions and id (pics

    These cams I have, the intake cam pictured seems to have more of a slope on one side of the lobe than the other. Are they too worn out to use?
    Also in the second picture shows number stamped on them "455" and the "R2" Lift at the lobe is .192" I have the matching exhaust cam, but it is in the bike right now.
    Are these stock cams?

      Those are the marks that are on my 83 1100 cam.

          It's normal for the camshaft lobe to have asymmetric face ramps so I doubt anything is wrong there.

          What I want to know is what's with all the debris inside the engine?

              Looks like he does valve adjusments near the metal lathe

              EDIT: Whoops teh computer laptop nattery died. I see U have a built 16V 750 with 83 cams . If you dont see any pitting then the ramps are fine. The hardended surface is not very thick . The rocker ration is 1.5:1 (IIRC) so multiply the 0.192"x1.5=0.288" which is about 7.32 mm. That is close to the 7.5mm stock lift for the 83 (let me check)

                  Thats just a spare head I have in the shop with the cam to measure lift. None of the lobes have any pitting on them.

                      what did those cams come out of? 83 1100 ED/ESD or 83 1100 SD?

                          I don't know. I got them off of someone who had them posted for sale on this site as just 1100 cams. I was happy when I measured the lift and they seemed to be '83 cams. They measure 230 deg duration @ 0.50" lift. I did measure the ex cam as well but I cant remember what the numbers were, but I think it had the same lift.
                          I have another intake cam here with same duration, but less lift, .182 at the lobe, likely an 80-82 cam.

                              0.182 figuers to be 6.93mm just under 7.0 for all the pre 83 1100's intakes
