DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thanks GSX1000E!

I would say wiring, I am going to put the complete loom on the bench and work through it.

Also need to sort out the brakes and take it out for a bit of road testing.
Oil leak on the starter side of the motor when she runs that needs a look at.

Can you believe that every bleed nipple has been snapped off with the thread left in the calipers!
Don't have a left hand drill bit or left hand thread self tapper so will have to wait until after Xmas to do some braking.

Looking for a replacement fuel tap, the vacuum tap has been butchered, is there a normal on/off tap from another bike that fits the GS tank?

I lied, the front left hand bleed nipple is intact :)

Any recommendations on the fuel tap anybody, please......

Thanks GSX1100E.

I would really prefer an on/off/reserve tap for this bike.
All my TZR's have vacuum taps and they can be a PIA sometimes.

Thought somebody here might have matched a tap up from another bike.

Starting to enjoy working on this bike, the project looked intimidating in the beginning but there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel!

'81 but it is not complete so not sure exactly how it should look.

PO had bypassed it somehow and had an inline tap fitted.

Can you post pictures of where it mounts to the tank and any damage that might have been done that would prevent you from simply installing a new one and worrying about something else instead?

I moved house at the end of last month, plenty more garage / workshop space.
Came from a place with a single garage that I parked a vehicle at night so working on a long term project was a real ball ache.

I have said several times that I am going to do something with this bike, so now is the time!!

Drained the oil yesterday, almost 5l came out excluding what was in the oil filter housing and the stator cover!

Also pulled the complete wiring harness out. Just too many patches, half fixes and wires twisted together with electrical tape to fix on the bike.
Will be going through it wire by wire and sorting the faults out.'

Where can I get a blade fuse holder to replace the stock fuse holder?

Since you mentioned bike will be track only, Pingle makes a nice petcock, on/off reserve. Also if your tank is 1980 you have a 50mm mounting point. This is a decent petcock adapter off ebay.

Thanks jbird. Not sure if it is an '80 or '81. Please take a look at the pics in the beginning of the thread and see if you can identify it.
I have looked at it and decided that an adapter plate can be made to fit a normal on/off tap more readily available here.
Just have to make sure the flow rate is ok.

As for track only, I am not sure about that anymore, might still run easily removable lights for the road but will not be any where near stock.

With any of the petcocks that are not vacume operated you will have plenty of fuel since they gravity feed. Lots o' gas

Just a bump to make sure this post doesn't get deleted.

No progress to speak of unfortunately.
