Pretty simple paint scheme. You could paint the stripes or maybe cut them from graphics film. Don't sweat it, you'll figure something out.

I have ceramic coated a few chrome pipes it's expensive but outcome is awesome and will last lifetime of bike , now I just paint mine with high heat paint , sandblast and paint , but have to do it every season which sucks!!

I use "Helix Very High Temp Exhaust System (flat black) Paint". The can also says "Silica - Ceramic Coating".

PO painted right over the rusty chrome V&H header, so I touch it up every few rides, until I replace the whole exhaust in a year or two.

For some reason I was having trouble getting into RD Decals site last time I tried.Then I knew there was a company to check but wasn't sure what it was Thanks KK and GK,why I ask here

On KZR I read about "priming" the chrome with muriatic acid then painting,thoughts?


Do the paint routine with the 85 GS750 header every year to,yeah it sucks.Did a through media blast last fall with a few coats of VHT header paint which I oven cured really well.Hoping it lasts more than a year

When removing chrome (which is what you really should do) I am certain they give it an acid bath. Just be careful, that is some nasty, nasty stuff. (I was going to say sh1t, but did not think that would be appropriate. )

Getting closer to having this bike home.Was really hoping to get a few $$ saved before getting a new project but it hasn't worked out that way.Still contemplating the colour scheme,under the leave it to Greg to find or do something different check out the starting place of this ELR clone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-cxYQ7wrPs .A rare(?) Canadian model Victory Gold GPz 750.Asked on KZR about it and it seems that GPz's in Canada Europe and Aus where available in both colours.Only the 550 and 750 here in this colour.BTW I've tossed the ELR clone idea out,been done to much IMO.

Well yesterday was the big day!Borrowed a neighbors trailer,I suck at backing one up.



Mocked it up to have a bit of a look see.Yes she's rough but mostly there.

The insignia need the black renewed


Petcock is bound for a trip though the ultrasonic. Probably treat it to the new OEM diagram the PO gave me,try doing that to a Suzuki.

Pulled off the tape and found this.

Hope all this stuff will still work.

This one's toast ,other front is a bit better but I think some K&S repros will be in order.Sadly the right stanchion tube has some rather large rust spots.May try the JB Weld trick.

Kawa certainly does electrics different than Suzi,there's not 1 but 2 fuse boxes.This bike has a third because a PO replaced the main with a blade fuse holder.Looks like 2 signal flashers to,one for 4 way flashing?

Found this carb boot looks like it had something really bad on it.Can get all 4 carb to engine and 4 air box boots for $110 + shipping,sounds good to me.

Looked at this closer today.Seems some PO took out the "funnel" on the air box,checked the fishe.It's NLA

You can get the air box and battery box out of these bikes without removing the engine with only a bit if fiddling to.Noticed a lot of play on the shift linkage,took it off to see why.The heim joint is rivet is loose on the shifter.Not to sure how to fix it

Yeah Ed it's been pretty good,till I hit a snag today.More on that later.While it looks quite bad I really haven't had to many problems removing screws,hitting them with good penetrating oil really helps.

Thinking I might need new shocksNot exactly unexpected but I've had good luck with not having to replace so far.Was a matter of time before that ran out.

Think these might just be a little to much for the JB weld to fix to

But the biggest problem I have that is going to hod stuff up is that the swing arm pivot bolt will not budge.Used my air impact to move is so it spins but even my 3 lbs club hammer didn't move it.Don't want to mess up the threaded bit in the end by wailing in it to much more.
