    UPDATE 22/1/16

So far have found out that the parts belong to a Yamaha XT500 around 1980 model. No luck from Gold Coast Electroplating. They no longer care and the promises from them that they would compensate me have falled through. I think they believe that these are my parts and I'm trying to rip them off, because the other person has not come forward with my parts. Have put the word out on other forums especially the yamaha and xt500 forums with no luck. Also have an add on Gumtree. Did have one on Ebay for information but someone bought the add for $1 before reading the description. So I have taken it off that one now.

I have now began purchasing new parts to replace my missing ones. I am up to about $300 for new parts but still have to source some that are no longer available. Few of the second hand parts are in the US and cost a fortune to get over here. I havent started on these yet because I keep feeling one day I may get my parts back. I will give it 1 year and begin selling these parts I have.

Starting to hear alot of similar stories about this company and will never use them again.

    Regards

I'd try and publish your story every place you could, until you get satisfaction from that company. Just the facts. Make it known to everyone needing plating....

        UPDATE 2/2/16
Bad news I still have not located myparts. Good news is that Gold CoastElectroplating has now kept their word and have refunded my money that I hadpaid for the zinc plating and also enough money to cover most of my missingparts. Some are rare and no longer availableso will try the US. Its been 3 monthssince I handed my parts in to be zinc plated. Part of the deal with GC Electroplating was that I had to return theparts in the photo which I did. I alsoleft my contact details and asked them to please call me if they ever solve themystery. If they do I may purchase someof my old parts back, if they are ever found. God help the guy who may have them sitting in his shed when he comes tohis rebuild. Im sure GC Electroplatingmay ask for some money before they hand his parts back. Thanks everyone fortrying to locate my parts. Will updatenext when I hear something more. Regards.

So, that's pretty good news in the end.

On another note, what parts are you having a hard time tracking down?

I was able to purchase new front foot pegs, which included the rubber. They fit but are a different shape from 1982 onwards. I cannot get the metal rear foot pegs no longer available. I took off the rubbers before I sent them to the plater. Also the small loom hook under the steering stem also no longer available. Suppose I will post in the wanted parts area for these parts.

              UPDATE 12/2/16
Received phone call from Gold CoastElectroplating. Someone has justcontacted them stating that they are missing a swing arm bolt for theirmotorcycle. I was told to stop buyinganymore parts as this could be the person with your missing parts. I was told that a panel beater is rebuildinga motorcycle for someone at the Gold Coast and has just discovered this missingpart. I am now waiting for my nextcall. A bit late as I have already spentall the compensation money on ordering new parts. Today 25/2/16 got a call again from GCElectroplating saying motorcycle parts have just arrived by courier from apanel beater. Quickly asked if 2 axlebolts were in there, but was told no. But when I described 7 foot pegs was told yes they are in there. Looks like some of my parts have finallyreturned. I was told to come downtomorrow and see if they are my parts. Will update with results. Wonderif I will get an apology after being told they did not make a mistake and mixedthe parts up. Coming up to 4 monthssince I saw my parts last. L

Maybe, hold onto the parts till the panel beater guy produces all your missing bits as hanging onto things like the axle bolts are still no good to him.

Don't say can't, as anything is possible with time and effort, but, if you don't have time things get tougher and require more effort.

                      UDATE 26/2/16
Well a happy day reunited with mymissing parts. Collected a box of mostof my parts from Gold Coast Electroplating. They were good about it and when I offered to purchase the parts theydeclined and handed them over. They stillcouldn’t tell me how they got mixed up but you can read between the lines. VERYBUSY. Anyway the axle bolts were missingand after a call to the other guy he stated he has still got them. After all this time they were at a motorcycleshop a couple of suburbs away in a box whilst he is slowly rebuilding a YamahaXT500 for a customer and got up to the stage of putting the swingarm on. The stress of all the highs and lows over the4 months has been unbelievable. Anyway thanks for everyone who commented ormade suggestions, but hopefully a lesson to others about being careful with whoyou leave parts with and documenting and photographing as much aspossible.
