    New toy. 1982 Honda 900F

I got this from a friend of mine. He gave it to me! He's had it since brand new, and has gotten nowhere fast working on it. He saw my GS and figured I'd take good care of it. I upholstered the seat about 20 years ago in a class I was taking in the evening. It's not too shabby, but I want to get it and the GS seat reupholstered in the same style, but nicer than I did. I haven't done anything except adjust the handle bars as it fell over in the trailer he brought it in and turned them down a little. V&H header is all he's done to it, performance wise.

1982 GS1100 G converted by Motorcyclist magazine in 1986 to be a tribute to the Wes Cooley replica. 1982 Honda 900F. 1997 Yamaha VMax.

Nice! One of my favorite bikes of all time. Had 3 of them. 1st stolen, 2nd totaled, 3rd eventually sold. The factory accessories (sport control kit, full fairing kit) could make these very sweet sport touring bikes. Congrats!

Thanks! Yes, it's an 1100F tank on it. I guess he's had several due to the fact that he'll get one, put it on, start the bike up, then let it sit for a year or so, collecting rust. I think this might be his 3rd or 4th tank. I did a really nice dark blue, red, and silver paint job on it back around 1984, but he got a black tank at one time, and painted the side covers, tail section, and fender black to match.

Now that's what old school muscle is supposed to look like.
1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

Congratulations.......what are your plans for the bike? Since you bought it right, you may be able to restore it and not be upside down.

              BullittDave indeed.
The two sites are similar in a lot of ways.
              Nice F starting point.

My brother still has his '82, though it is rotting away in his yard. There's a nice enough one for sale locally for $895, but I am limiting myself to one vintage sportbike from Japan.

As an F purist, I gotta say that beast is pretty ghastly looking! How does it run?

F purists probably hate this one, too.

The Honda super bikes look just as good as the Kawasaki's, Yamaha's and Suzuki's.

My point is, that one's not stock in any way. The OP just got this bike. It's in decent shape for a starting point.

I personally think the 750/900/1100f's are better looking than other contemporary bikes.

It didn't cost him very much, either.
