    Camshaft selection

    Found a set of what I believe are Megacycle cams 385-25 Intake and 385-X13 exhaust. Are these too much for a 10-1 1260 some street and weekly drag bike with a decently ported head and 1.5 OS Intake valves? http://www.megacyclecams.com/catalog/catalog.pdf Page 56. Guide clearance probably an issue, and hardfaced rockers at least for the Intake? Starting bid is $265

    You will definitely need shorter valve guides & better springs. The welded rockers arms will help too but the valve spring pressure is what is harder on the chrome facing on stock rockers. I have used stock rockers on big cams but watched them closely & checked them after every weekend I raced.

      those cams would be better in a 1150 casting or something bigger. consider a intake / or set of .348 lift cams - (aka drop ins) would really wake that head up and not have to do much to get the benefit.

        Kind of what I thought. These were affordable, but after all the work to make them fit and live I am probably behind, and the project turns in to next year instead of this year. Here are a couple pics of what I'm up to.... Bandit forks and swingarm (2" longer than 1100), big brakes and modern tires, 190 out back. Not strictly dragbike but it should be plenty fun on and off the track. Lunchbox headlight and gauges going back on, looking for the sleeper vibe.

          nice looking Bob. I would be happy to buy or trade certain parts off of it. the kick stand was moved to get more turning clearance on pizza cutters - but that huge tire out back changes all the rules.

          I'm all settled in in a new city / and house - give me a holler I am finding gs performance stuff I forgot all about

              Kind of an optical illusion. Just a 190\55-17 on a Bandit 5.5" wheel. Hoping I can find room for the chain somewhere.... I think a 3/8 offset sprocket and some jiggling with the spacers should do it.

                BTW those cams were relisted a couple times, I missed the last time and they went for $125.

                    Please post what you are doing to get a chain on it. I am going to be doing something similar to a 83 750E. Except I am using Bandit swinga , forks and motor. B12

                      Bandit 1200 hub (longer than GS), 2mm shim under 3/8 offset sprocket. That's it. I am going to check with a laser but it looks straight. I did razor blade off the sharp edge of the tire on the chain side but don't think I had to. Solved the rear brake pedal\linkage clearance with Gen1 Busa rearsets and some adapters hacked out of bar stock using only a $49 Harbor Freight drill press and a chop saw with a 100 tooth aluminum blade. I need to take the swingarm off one more time to put on the plastic chain slap guard thingy. And I needed to saw off the monoshock mount or the battery won't fit. Good clearance for the Bandit brake stay as well
