Hello from Italy , need Help!

Hello i'm Andrea from Italy, i have a 1984 Gs1100Es full stock with 80.000 km . The motorcycle pull like a train.

In May I would like to attend (without victory pretensions of course) to a competitive economy run over 740cc. According to your experience as a consumer I could get?

In everyday use at 65 mph constant, i get a consumption of about 50-55 mpg.

in everyday use I can at 90 km / h constant, to get a consumption of about 50-55 mpg

    Hello.

That seems very optimistic to get 50-55 mpg from an 1100. My 850 on a good day will get 49 at highway speeds. Factors vary greatly though and in my case at 5000 plus or minus feet above sea level, windjammer, fuel with at least 10% ethanol so this may not be a good comparison.

Edit: 39.5 mpg at 75 -80 mph is my typical mileage. Had to think on that for a bit.

If its fully stock and in good tune, it should get decent mileage. Id do backflips if I got anywhere near that mileage.
Mine has a 4 into 1 exhaust, pods and a jet kit...... dont go there if mileage is a concern.

The 1135 engine is pretty sensitive in the carb department, and a good vacuum synch (if not done recently) make it run smoother and possibly help mileage.
Personally, I do a full tune up - valve clearance check, inspect the intake boots for cracks / air leaks, check the air filter then carb synch (in that order) and go thru the ignition system, checking the plug wires and the plug caps. I had a bad cap a few years ago, and a lot of corrosion in all of the wire connections. All of this may not make a night and day difference, but could make incremental improvements.

And welcome from a fellow 1150 rider. Post a pic or 2 when you get a chance if you would....

Which gallon are we talking about
          yes, I am wondering too.

Andrea, US gallon is only 83% of UK gallon. ( also called "Imperial" gallon) so,
IF you are using UK gallon, you are getting about 48.8 per US gallon...

          Someone with a 750 may chime in but my 650 gets between 19/ 21 km per litre = (44.5 / 50 mpg(US) = 53 / 59mpg(Imp)

Yes the fuel measurement needs verifying, I don't think anywhere in Europe fuel is sold in gallons !.it's sold in litres. With my GS1000 with 1085 kit, I usually get at least 150 miles from full tank to reserve.

I just went for a long ride today and got 45.9 miles per gallon. For some reason the fuel mileage seems to be better going north and climbing in elevation. Is this uncommon for an 850G with a windjammer and bags? That was all highway mileage mostly 75 -80 mph.

To be specific, I filled up at 178 miles and it took 3.87 gallons to bring it back up to the bottom of the filler neck in the tank.

Did a 580 mile trip last year with a passenger and camp gear, several runs in the high 70s and one in the mid 80 range and averaged 48 mpg. This was accomplished on my 1980 1100L. It is podded and jetted, in very good tune running Shinko 230 tires with a windshield.DSCF0328.jpg The best that I have averaged loaded like this was 52 mpg. It has a 3.6 gal gas tank, and I pulled into a fuel stop once after going 157 miles on the tank. Don't mind telling ya I was a bit worried the last 20 miles with the fuel gage not moving.
