    Re-keying...

    Hello all,

Does anyone know if you can get your ignition switch/gas cap/seat lock re-keyed, so it'll match the others? I know that these keys all have a three-number code stamped on them which designates the cut pattern. Being the stickler for details that I am, I want to make sure all three items use the same key. I have an '81 Honda CB900 that I had to buy a new gas cap for, and it came with two of its own (different) keys, and it bothers me that I now need two different keys to operate that bike.

I've done a few over the years - recently I did a pic tutorial over here:

    Current:
Z1300A5 Locomotive (swapped my Intruder for it), GS450 Cafe Project (might never finish it....), XT500 Commuter (I know - it's a Yamaha )

    Past:
    VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....

You rock dude! Thanks a bunch. I bookmarked your tutorial in my Suzuki folder. At the moment, my GS850 uses all the same key and I don't expect that to change, but I'll try to use your procedure to make the new gas cap on my CB900 match the ignition switch. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Kiwi Cannuck is a locksmith and has cut many many keys for members, He can also rekey them or you can take everything to your local ( reputable) guys and have them do it.

Thanks Chuck. Did you see the link from Hillsy above? Looks simple enough. I'm going to try it on my Honda.

I am not a locksmith, too, but last time I needed locksmith's services I just placed online order at https://replacementcarkey.org/ , that is easier than it might seem. You can also buy new keys there, too, the order is usually delivered within 2-3 days, very comfortable.
