    GS850 GL Shaft Drive Noisy

    Guys just had my first ride out on my 1982 GS850 GL i bought the bike needing top end rebuild and part restoration
    The shaft drive sounds noisy ?? when i let the revs off and not under load There is plenty of oil in gearbox and diff
    Any help would be appreciated

      Over this way, lots of 1982 models developed pumpkin (the differential) issues - the wheel spline was soft and wore out. Best to remove wheel and go exploring .image.jpg

        Drain the oil and run a decently strong magnet around in it...bet the magnet gets all kinds of metal debris on it. Drive shaft U joints could also be wanky.

        I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
