First time in Ky, Va and Wva area.

Going to spend a week in an area bordered in the west by Ky/V-421, in the north by K-80, in the east by V/Wv-16 and by V-58a/19 in the south. Starting from McGee Ky. Was going to be in the Claw of the Dragon area, but it seems a little out of the way, possible crowding. After seeing all the roads in this area, i know I will be back. Set me up guys! Keep in mind Have about 5 days and enjoy challenging roads.

See my Ohio post in this section. Between Chuck and my KY and WV info posted in there, you should be able to plan some great riding roads. If you mean McKee, KY then Red River Gorge is close by.

Well...what did you work out? Around the Red River Gorge and directly south is real nice. WV-16 is nonstop curves from nearly the Ohio River and all the way into Marion, VA ("Back of the Dragon" Tazewell VA to Marion VA), except for a break after Gauley Bridge from Fayetteville and south 20 minutes to Beckley, next to (above) the New River Gorge area. South of Beckley WV all the way to Marion VA it is great, & there are other excellent roads nearby it. WV61 Deepwater to Kincaid is great, to the west of the New River Gorge between Gauley Bridge and Fayetteville sort of. But to the West. The WV-60 is also named Midland Trail and has a great stretch from Gauley Bridge to Hawks Nest (partially merged with 16 for the 1st stretch)
16 splits off south across the Kanawha River and up a beautiful long hill climb with amazing scenery and a handful of great curves up to the road that takes you to the New River Gorge bridge and Fayetteville. Continuing East on 60 continues the wild ride with some really amazing wicked curves hugging the edge of rugged hillsides and the river below down steep banks, and also takes you to the other end of the New River Gorge Bridge after the wild twisties subside.
great stuff towards the KY border also but I've only been through once passing and I didn't map it, my buddy was leading.

Whitetop Mtn and a few roads around there southwest of Marion VA are worth checking out too. Sorry I'm rusty on WV KY roads, haven't been there enough in the past few years!!! Got to enjoy some wicked NC/TN riding past 2 years though. TN32, NC215 & US276, Blue Ridge Parkway, 226 & 226a "Little Switzerland Loop" just beloe the blue ridge parkway, Rt 80 Buck Creek Rd...
Hellbender/Moonshiner 28, US129 Dragon...great! TN32 is my fav. Zero traffic, almost ground a hole through my exhaust, pushing it as fast as possible thru half the turns at a warp speed of 25mph at full lean scraping metal to pavement...

let us know what you are planning and refer to lurch's other ohio/KY thread

I Trailered the Sprint down to McGee Ky. Took 14hrs, but it feels better than 14hrs on the freeway on a bike. Here's my route sheet. 185 miles 10hrs riding with lots of off bike ltime and the usual wrong turns. This is the twistyest, continuous, smoothest roads I've ridden on. Many banked turns. When you see them coming, you can just paste, 'em! 3rd and 4th gears 80% of the time with plenty of 2nd gear work. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain, so I'lI run a softer route
