    Air Filter Falling apart

Hey I recently bought a 1981 Gs850G and it has been having some slight issues with idling. I know that there is an idle knob that you can adjust which I did, and it worked for a couple of weeks. Then the idle dropped down again and I had to adjust the idle knob up even more. I don't think that's normal and I check the air filter and it's hard to tell if it's dirty or not because the foam filter is brown. But I also noticed that the foam is starting to fall off the rest of the filter. I don't know if it's my filter getting worse and worse or if it's the carbs. I wouldn't think it's the carbs because I don't have a problem when the bike is going, it runs really well when it's going but when it comes to idling I'm at a loss. Right now it's idling fine right around 1500-1800 and I ordered a new airfilter and air filter oil. The fuel line is good it was actually replaced and the owner before added an in line fuel filter so that all looks good. I'm hoping it just needs that new filter. Any suggestions or input would be awesome thanks.
