    78gs750 transmission

hi guys im not sure where to put this so - i have a 78 750 and the guy i got it from said it has a flat track tranny in it? it does 90 in first then the rest of the gears are barley anything more, im wondering if he did something weird or if there is clout to this tale??

i have the top end off now so im wondering if i should get a tranny and put it in while its apart, or put it together and try it first, thanks for any input -
