marzzocchi rear shocks 87.590 with 28psi

Yesterday I turned my '77gs750 (in progress for sale) into a woodtail (made wood struts) so I could steal the red Marzoocchi gas shocks (labeled on the bottom 87.590 and try them on my '79gs1000. Weird but even on the lowest setting (where they were) the shocks are really stiff sprung like they could work on a much heavier bike.. I read some place that they should be charged with nitrogen and read someplace else just air, so I'll check that and try to find some marzzocchi experts// But any of you have these shocks (think they were hot back in the day) else any recommendations on new shocks that will be better than the 35year old oems I have??

They do come with stiff springs and dampening. It helps if you're 276+ lbs like me.

Marzzocchi Strada. I've had mine since about 1984, they're off the bike now and need a rebuild.

I rebuilt mine and just used air, worked fine not that I could tell with those stiff springs. Replaced them with Icons, much happier.

        rear shocks

        thanks guys,

I tried sending an email to marzoochi tech support and it came back undeliverable.. I'm going to do front forks and if the marzoochi can't be softer then perhaps I'll buy something else. recommendations?? Icons? which ones and fronm where?

Marzocchi don't produce the old shocks anymore and do not have old stock to rebuild them.
They did not answer emails for some time, looks like they even stopped the email flow.

Ducatipaddy sometimes has rebuild kits but not atm.

I have a 2-page rebuild manual should you need it.

I have the Marzocchi AG Strada rear shocks on 2 of my bikes, they are quite stiff
          but i like them.
I think modern shocks perform better allround, Hagon has nice shocks for a good price.

Thanks! I'm thinking if the shocks are ok perhaps I can get softer springs from progressive.

There's still kits available from Marzocchi UK, at least there were last year when I bought mine

Thanks but again right now the issue is they are way too stiff. I need softer springs. If I find there are spings then I could take them apart and test the shocks alone.
