    New Owner 86 GS550ES

Hello All. I'm a newbie and the new owner of a 86 GS550ES with 7000 miles in Southern California , everything stock except for the turn signals and mirrors. It has been mostly sitting in a garage on and off for the last 30 years. I was able to get the tank cleaned out, carbs redone, new battery and break lines and now she's up and running. Looking forward to making her pristine once again and learning in the process.

I've always been a middleweight fan, and yours looks like it has led a good life, with a few tell-tale signs of use.

How many miles on the clock?

          Welcome to the site, Rick.
Always nice to see a bike revival done with the mechanics first, appearance second mentality.

When consulting the magic 8 ball for advice, one must first ask it "will your answers be accurate?"

Thanks. Always fighting the temptation to go looks over mechanics. Trying to figure out where I can get a better seat. I don't care for the stock seat.

I agree that the seat is too soft and flexy.

Seat selection for this model is pretty poor from my limited looking about. You're pretty much limited to custom work, or DIY.
