    Valve check/adjustment

I have a 79 suzuki gs550. I am thinking about checking the valve clearances and replacing shims if need be. Has anyone written out directions on how to do this?

    Thanks,
    Danny

    You must be new here.

Click HERE to visit our "library", where you can download a manual for your bike, then look down the left column to see the tutorial called Valve Adjustments (8-valve) and the one right below it, Zip-Tie Supplement.

Also feel free to take advantage of the offer in my signature for the Excel spreadsheet. It helps do the math to figure out what shims you need and also provides a handy log page for your work.

Please do more than think about it as not doing it will lead to burnt valves
