    Cincinnati to NYC

I am moving to NYC shortly and was going to take a trip to NYC to scout things out during the first week of June. Well gee and I got this GS550 that Id like to take with me, so I figured I could just ride it to NY for this scouting trip and then leave it with a friend while I return and get the rest of my stuff. Sooo, Im basically going to take a week to get up there, Im hoping to avoid the interstate as much as possible (i dont even want to smell the interstate), and Id like to find some good towns and possible fishing streams/rivers if at all possible. My first inclination is to choose some rivers I want to fish and just connect the dots, but I think I could stand to take some suggestions on good routes, Im open to anything really, and I would love to just cruise up the Appalachian mountains.

The way I see it I can either leave ohio at nothern PA and go up through NY or accross PA, or I can enter in W. VA via a really nice road that follows the ohio and then keep going accross till I get to either the App. Mtns. or the coast. So many options, help me out!

I have no suggestions. Just wanted to know where in NYC you are moving. I may be moving to Brooklyn.

Whenever you figure out a route, if it swings anywhere near Dayton, lemme know, I wouldnt mind hooking up with you and riding out that way for a bit...hell there are quite a few of us around here, maybe we could make a day of it, escort you as far as where-ever...

2001 KLR650 too pretty to get dirty

Life is a balancing act, enjoy every day, "later" will come sooner than you think. Denying yourself joy now betting you will have health and money to enjoy life later is a bad bet.

I'm from NYC and would love to hear about where you plan on moving to. Is this a work-related thing or what?

I've done that ride a few times from Canton. Took 76 to 80 the whole way but that wouldn't work from Southern Ohio.

              Hey,
Haven't checked this thread in a while. Right now I'm kind of scrambling to get ready, but I should be leaving next week. I am going to avoid the highways at all costs, mostly because they are really boring without music and the ability to smoke, but also because secondary roads are just so much better. My plan, contingent upon weather, it to just ride out from cincinnati along rt 52 (OH) or rt 8 (ky) along the ohio river until I reach W. Virginia. Then, depending on how much time I actually have, I will either shoot up to central PA and then across to Philly and then up to NYC, hopefully stopping around State College, PA to do some trout fishing. If I have enough time then from W.Va I will go to Viginia and up through the shenendoahs and then on up to state college PA, fishing my way up. I would like to have 2 weeks for this trip, in order to find quality fishing and be able to enjoy myself. But this could all be for not if I have to get there ASAP.

1980, to answer your question I am moving up there to start my career in Industrial Design, and I have a job lined up...however all of these stated unkowns are based on when they need me to start and when I can sell my car. I am looking to live either in Brooklyn or Harlem (spanish harlem or south harlem??). Almost everybody I know up there lives in either of those two places. Ive heard Bed-stuy in brooklyn is pretty cool. Im trying to find a deal on an apt, of course, and we will just see how that works out...ha need to find one of those rent controlled apts on the east side that still exist....eh?? jk

umm i think thats all, i will keep it updated.
