    GS750 Carb Setting

Just got my 77 GS750 started for the first time in 4 years - Started like a good 'un!
I remember meddling with the carbs before the layoff, and making it run like a pile of ****e!

Can someone please tell me how many turns out from fully in, do I need to adjust each air mix screw?

    Thanks Dave.

Start by giving us a little more information, please.

Stock airbox and exhaust or aftermarket items?

For stock items, start with the fuel screws (the ones on the bottom) about 3/4 turn out. If you have pods or a pipe, go for 7/8 turn. For pods AND a pipe, go 1 turn. Note that you should have larger main jets installed, as well, if you are not stock.

As a general guide, the air screws (the ones on the side) go about double of the fuel screw setting. When the bike is warmed up, slowly tweak them for highest engine idle speed. Turn slowly, 1/8 turn can make a big difference.

Standard airbox and origonal twin pipes - stock bike really!

Didn't notice the bottom screws - only the side & idle

It only runs on choke at the moment, and dies just before I do of carbon monoxide poisoning!

Thanks - I will have a fettle on Sunday, Dave.

Since it hasn't been run for 4 years, I would just take the carbs apart and refresh them. Treat them to a dip in the Berryman's pool and, for dessert, let them have some o-rings from cycleorings.com. Top it all off with a sync by Morgan and you will have a 'new' bike again.

Oh, while you are waiting for the carbs in the dip, why not adjust your valves, too? Then it will really run like new.
