    GS1000G Cafe racer style rebuild

Hey guys, thought I'd post here what I've been up to all winter!

Started with this, quite a dirty and rusty GS1000G, with some odd bits on it, think it had a GSX wiring loom on it, and not sure what the carbs are thinking CVs, but this is my first GS so all new to me

    Start of the strip down.

Any idea what carbs these are?

Wiring was a mess, lots of coroded wires

    Frame repsrayed..

    Engine cleaned up...Touched up.

    Looking like a bike again..

Tank stripped and in situ, with dropped clubman bars

    Fabricating rear unit and seat...

As it is today, need to finish seat. The paintwork isnt great up close, but just a cover for now, gonna do a complete respray in a few weeks, same colour.
All electrics are redone, just sorting airbox, as rubbers are buggered.

    Great progress, Alex.
I will no longer complain about having to work in an unheated garage.

You bike looks real nice. It's nice to see someone doing something creative with a shaftie. My daughter would have loved the origional paint job.
