What does your header pipe color say about your jetting or engine state of tune? Still chrome (no coloring )=?, Blue=?, Gold=?

For V&H headers gold seems to be the norm.1983 GS 1100E w/ 1230 kit, .340 lift Web Cams, Ape heavy duty valve springs, 83 1100 head with 1.5mm oversized SS intake valves, 1150 crank, Vance and Hines 1150 SuperHub, Star Racing high volume oil pump gears, 36mm carebs Dynojet stage 3 jet kit, Posplayr's SSPB, Progressive rear shocks and fork springs, Dyna 2000, Dynatek green coils and Vance & Hines 4-1 exhaust.

my 4-1 was blue all the way back and half way up the silencer when i got it. carb re-build and shims since, but now can't tell now.Comment

Aye, Single wall pipes will colour a bit no matter what really. Unless youve got it running so cool that you're sooting up your plugs.Originally posted by twr1776 View Post

Yeah I haven't done any runs on the street yet. I just finished this bike from a total rebuild and have yet to get it off the lift. Hopefully this weeked I will run it and do some plug checks.Comment
