IRC Duotour 310 vs. Bridgestone Spitfires

Any thoughts about these two brands of tires for my GS750T restoration. The IRC's would be the spec size of 120/90v17 for the rear and the Bridgestone Spitfires would be 130/90v17, a little wider. I bought the bike with Dunlop 130/90v17's already on the back so it was running with the wider rear. 1. Would running the slightly larger than stock tire on the rear have any appreaciable drawback. 2. In anyone's experience, which tire brand is better....IRC or Bridgestone. Bridgestone's are slightly less expensive but that is not an issue. Thanks.

    17" Rear Tires

I struggled with this decision last year as I was rescuing my TZ. 120/90-17's are hard to find and expensive. I wound up with the IRC's and after about 4,000 miles I can't complain. They probably won't go another 4,000 but they're holding up better that the Cheng-Shin HiMaxes (no longer available) on my E with about the same mileage.

I'd run a 130 since the rear wheel is 2.5" wide so it's not overly oversize. For the tires I'd get Shinko Tourmaster 230's. They have a good reputation from those using them, they are cheap, and are a belted type tire so the durability should be reasonable.

Thanks for the input on the IRC's. They seem to be one of just a few makers of this size within my pricepoint. As far as the Shinko's go, I used a pair to restore a 1982 GS650G. They looked good and weren't as expensive as many other brands. The bike sold on me before I could put any miles on it to see what they felt like. Considering the rear is not much larger and presents no clearance issues I might go with the Shinko's. Thanks for the comments.

i put some spitfires on my 750. the back was a great tire it held up for about 8000 miles. for the front I would not put another back on my bike due to. I was going normal speed and a light that had a quick yellow, I would slide through with full brake applyed

Wow. I had a pair on my R100. I liked the fact that the edges were softer for a better sport grip and the center was stiffer for long distance wear. Sounds like the quick stop might have been more than the harder center compound could handle. Fortunately, I never had that experience with the 7K I put on the tires.
