    GS500 twin question

Anybody know definitively if a GS400/425/450 engine is a direct "bolt in" to a '04 GS500? I know the 500 engine is derived from the others, but are the mounting bosses in all the same places?

Just curious, why put such a stone aged engine into a modern bike?

Life is too short to ride an L.

I have a line on a GS500 with a rod knock, and can get a good GS450 engine for $100. Quick fix, ride a little, and sell.
They are basically the same, the GS 500 is not at all modern, other than looks.

It will bolt right in but the exhaust won't fit anymore, so yes and no...

I suspect the 450 crank may be a drop - in into the 500 cases though...

I always wanted to know If a gs 500 engine could drop into my 81 gs400 frame

So If you do by chance get that 450 into that frame you might notice the exhaust come out at more of an angle and the frame is partially in the way, Compared to the Gs500 which is close to straight forward and then down between the frame.

Good luck, I'd like to see what happens
