    Oil/Gas Resistant Foam

I replaced the air filter in my '81 850 and all of the insulating material between the top of the filter and the airbox crumbled out. I know there is an air gap between them as I can feel the looseness of the filter. I have put in some temporary foam insulation that I used to seal the side of the airbox from prior inspections, but I don't think it is holding up too well.

Can anybody tell me how to insulate the filter? I guess by extension I could also seal the side of the airbox.

Stick-on weatherstripping from any hardware store.

It's the rite of passage into the Loyal High Order of The Shafted Ones.

Seal the side covers on your airbox as well.

      Hi,

      As Brian said...

      Around the airbox side covers:

And on top of the air filter cage:

Trim the weatherstripping to fit as necessary. See my website for more information.

      Thank you for your indulgence,
