RPMs drop slowly after engine warm.

Before my ride yesterday, after the engine warmed up and choke was off, my RPMs would return to idle after revving. After my ride of about 60km, the engine was taking about 5-8 seconds to return to idle after revving. The ambient temperature was about 10C.

This '82 GS650G has never done this before, but also, it was my first ride > 10km this season.

What can cause this, what can solve it?

    Thanks in advance.

That type of problem is generally some form of air leak.

Life is too short to ride an L.

I was afraid of that. The boots are hard, and have some sort of hard sealant on the boots that looks like it was applied wet with a popsicle stick. I've been putting off doing a carb clean, and boot replacement because it's been running well, and I've been putting my time and money into getting my GS850 running. I was hoping to get my 850 road worthy before starting to tinker with my 650.
