    Speedo went out

So I was driving at about 70 down the Freeway and then all the sudden my speedo started to bounce and then 0mph so i finally got home this week to try and fix it. So I checked the end by the tach and it looked fine. so took the front wheel off and checked the one down there and it was fine, I pulled the cable out and put it back in. I then took my speedo mechanism out and spun it for a while and the part where the cable connects wasnt spinning. tryed both directions. so does this mean I need a new speedo mechanism?

    Thank you
    Jake

First thing I'd do is prop the front wheel off the ground and remove the speedo cable from the gauge. Next, spin the wheel while watching the inner cable - it should turn. If the cable is turning like it should your speedo is junk and time to start watching the classifieds and ebay.
