    Transmission whine

I've got an annoying whining sound coming from I think the transmission. I know it's not coming from the engine, it only happens when the clutch is engaged. It happens through all of the gears regardless of accellerating or decelerating but stops as soon as I pull in the clutch cable even when coasting. Any ideas?

could it be a transmission bearing headed out? Low oil? Friction plates slipping?

I had just put in a complete clutch assembly that I bought used from eBay and everything looked good, so I didn't think it was that, but, if the plates are slipping that would give off a kind of high pitched whine? I do still get some slippage at high rev accelleration in 2nd and 3rd gears.
