Lower Gear Ratios VS Overall Performance

The sprocket on the '79 motor I put on my GS1000E has two teeth less than the stock '78 motor. Nice low end power, but overall is this a good idea to keep on the bike? I'm interested in overall performance, and gas mileage is also a concern. It runs about 4200RPM at 70MPH.
'78 GS1000E, Dyna-S ignition, Dyna Green Coils, K&N pods, Delkevic SS 4-1 exhaust, Dynojet Stage 3 jet kit, Russell SS Brake Lines, Progressive suspension, Compu-Fire series Regulator 55402 and Advmonster cree LED headlight conversion.

The smaller the front sproket, usually the worse for gas mileage. But I bet it jumps pretty good off the line. Also the smaller sprokent on front will wear your chain sooner...just a couple of pennies.
