Time for more parts - am I missing anything?

    1982 GS650G

    New air filter
New airbox->carb boots (plus some little ring that goes with it? - 484164-001 at bikebandit - any idea what it is?)
Frame cover (old one fell off)
Cam cap (the silver things on the outside of the cylinder head. old one fell off)

    Total: more than I'd like

    ...but I  my baby!

I'm hoping to squash my air leaks once and for all! Though my airbox is a bit to be desired It's been kinda hacked apart and put back together (someone before me). $105 for a brand new one. Should I grab a new airbox too?

    also some general questions:

when should I change the hypoid gear oil for the driveshaft? fork oil?

    mileage is ~8k

I'd change the oil now. It's old and likely to have condensation and what not after all these years. Also, check the valves and adjust as neccesary if you haven't already done so.

For the airbox, it's hard for us to estimate what your current one looks like but I'd say no unless it's really bad. Look for a used one since it will be cheaper. BTW, I assume you are refering to the back half.

Those round rings go inside the airbox boots. Take a peak to see if they are there since you can reuse them if they are. Oh, and get new band clamps since the old ones stretch out.

Lastly, you can get one of those cam caps from someone around here. I have one spare chrome one but it'd dingy looking, or one polished aluminum one (not sure what type you have). Drop me a PM if you want one.

I would get 4 new NGK plug caps and 4 new spark plugs. Cheap easy insurance.

YGPM! Also, yes, I mean the back portion of the airbox. Mine has some holes drilled into it for zip ties to hold it together - the original clips are broken as far as I can tell
