    foot control question (real quick)

I'm studying for a big final exam for tomorrow (design of physical systems ) and can't get around to check my motorcycle out- I'm adapting rearsets I designed for my '79 gs750 and was wondering what material the brake pedal is. Aluminum or steel? I need to know because I'd like to cut it down and weld a bracket for the brake linkage. Otherwise I need to buy a part off eBay that ends in a couple hours... thanks!

They are steel, chrome plated. I believe they are forged.

They rust so they definately have some steel content, if not all steel.

Yeah, the material is magnetic, and by the look of the surface finish I guessing forged for better strength.
