    83 gs1100g

    This bike has 16k miles on it and I don't know if the valves etc. have ever been set. It is running fine but wondered if this should be done regardless. thx bob

    If you don't know, it would be wise to check 'em. It'll cost you the price of a valve gasket. Even if you find they are good, at least you'll know.

        Good to know, and if you record what shims you have now in addition to the clearance, you can have a good guess at what shims you might need to order at the next adjustment.
