    gs1100e 4" ext. swingarm 530 chain length

    Hello guys,

I have a 83 gs1100e with a 4 inch extended aluminum swingarm. I'm going to do a 530 chain coversion in order for the 180 tire to fit. Does anyone know how many more links that I'm going to need in order for the chain to fit? Thanks for your help.

    Peace!

why not use a measuring tape around the outside of the sprockets you're using...then order your chain by length rather than links. this way your chain will be slightly longer than needed ...but rather looking at it than looking for it.

that how i do mine anyway...the guy i use cuts to whatever length i need

A 4" extension is going to need a chain that is 8" longer.

        The links are 5/8" each.

Doing the math, 13 links would be 65/8" or 8 1/8".

Depending on the adjustability in your axle slot, you would want either 12 or 14 links extra.
