Bike only drag race in Florida

Bike only drag race at Bradenton April 5-7
I gonna make these races. I will run in street fighter and pro et classes. I am going to try to make all of the four races in this series. It would be nice to meet up with some of you fellow GS racers at one of these events.

    So who else is going?

stetracer, look me up at Bradenton. I'll have cold soda at the trailer. Normally hang out with the Orlando bike guys so some of them will be around to meet also, some of them are Kawi guys but don't hold that against them, lol
Mine is a white and blue GS1000 2V bar bike number 2009.

I won't have my 85 1150 ready in time so I will only be riding the 98 1200 Bandit. So Street ET and Street Fighter class. I be running on this bike here is a couple of crapie videos of my son on it at Bradenton.

I'll be there sunday, bring the frame. I giddy as a shcool girl.
Can't ride one of the bikes though, I don't think I can get the frame back to Orl. on the back of the 1000.
I guess I can bring a bike on my trailer, park somewhere and ride in, but I'd still need to get the frame to my truck.

I couldn't make that race after all, I found a problem with my frame that needs to be fixed. I have to remove a cross brace and relocate it, tire is rubbing on it. Cant risk a blow out at 130........sucks

I was going to race a couple of classes but I did not finish my GS1150 mods that I wanted to do so I just took the 98 Bandit to run in Street ET. The Gremlins where running all over the place in my garage and a bunch of them jumped on the bandit when I left for the track. When I realised that I was going to have to run the Bandit I dusted it off figuring I would have to install the ( what I thought were ready to go clean ) 40mm RS Mukuni's or to clean the carbs that were on it at the most and I kinda wanted to put a longer swingarm on it. It could not be farther from the truth every part I touched or looked at went bad. Ended up with a shorter swingarm only 61'' wheel base all the way back. Even striped out the oil drain plug at midnight before the race, I changed the carbs twice the complete ignition system one piece at a time the swingarm twice and my pingle started leaking bad so I had to put a stock one on it starter clutch gasket and ignition gaskets . Finally ready to go 3am I wish I was younger. Wake up at 6:30am Friday morning raining !! They said rain till noon yea! more sleep! get to the track at 1pm still drying it off. Time runs 1st time run please remember I have not been down a track in 5 years. 1st pass off the trailer 9.976 @ 140.58 mph with a 1.686 60' footer. Then my air shifter started leaking and I missed a bunch of time runs trying to track the leak down. After I got the air shifter fixed I made a couple of passes picked up to a 9.85 but lost 4mph It was getting cooler so I took the Baffle out and got some of the mph back but lost et I figured it was me so I opened up the air filters and run it. and it 60' footed even better but lost mph and ET Hmm. Friday is tune session is over. Go home and think. Thinking it is running lean I am running the 41m Kiehins so I don't have any extra jets for them I richened the main one size to a 160main ( stole them from my set of 39's ) and raised the needles 1 notch and opened the fuel screw to one full turn and put the filters back on. 2nd day Saturday 1st pass 9.30am cold and dry. right off the trailer was also my best pass of the weekend it went a 9.757 @ 134.60 mph I think I am running the float bowls dry with the stock petcock it would just fall off like I was rolling off the throttle
Here is the time slip # reads
                          RT----- .017
                          60'----- 1.609
                          330'---- 4.153
                          1/8----- 6.273 @ 119.30mph
                          1000'--- 8.130
                          1/4----- 9.757 @ 134.60mph

I found if I did a little burnout just clean off the tire it would run a better mph ad my clutch started grabbing and had to hold the bike back with my feet. I will be installing a cable clutch asap. I lost 2nd round on Saturday to a red light -.033 and lost 3rd round on Sunday I just felt like I needed to get out of it I was baggin a couple but I didn't. With a little more I think with a little more tuning and fixen I could get this bike into the low 9.40's with me on it. But I need a longed swingarm on it to be consistant. Not to shabby for a little 1216cc motor pump gas street bike.

It does not sound like you were rusty at all despite the 5 year layoff.
Definitely not rusty in the mechanical side of things with all those gremlins getting solved.
I bet you had a blast.
btw, what did Mr. McBride run?

JD, thanks for the frame and it was nice to meet you.

Sorry my flip phone isn't the fastest gun in the east, but here are some shots I squeezed off before we hauled butt back up I-75.

Never got the call from the FJ1200 down south, so we went to Brooksville and checked out another '84 FJ1100.
Just might buy it, always wanted a set of twins.

Let me know if you race up my way, I'll gladly help out any way I can.
