    Z1 Speedo

Laid down my Z1 (short story in another thread devoted to that topic--not my thread).

I'm riding it again but have a few issues. One being the speedometer. The mount for the speedo and tach broke when I laid it down. chipped some paint and a few dents. I put on new backs and visual damage is gone.

Here's the issue... the speedo needle begins to jump at around 65 mph. It bounces over a 15 mph range. At around 90 mph it evens out again. Sometimes it bounces like crazy. And I occasionally look down and think that it can't be tracking correctly--I seem to be going faster than it is registering based on sound of engine and tach reading, not to mention buffeting by the wind.

Is this likely an internal gauge issue or could the cable connections be the problem?

    Thanks for responses.

This may be the cause... tiny watch spring lost its boing.

Could be as simple as cable needing a good cleaning/lube, too. Start with that.

Frank: Thanks for posting the pic. I'll start with a clean and lube of the cable.
