    1983 CB1100F For Sale (Friend's Bike)

This has been painstakingly restored by a guy who was a Honda mechanic at various dealerships in the '70s, '80s, and '90s. It's beautiful and runs perfectly. All parts are Honda oem, including the bolts. If you're interested in it, let me know, and I'll get you in touch with him. He lives in Peoria, IL.

    It ain't cheap.

In the USA, yes. Not sure about the rest of the world though.

Rest of the world too - CB1100F was a 'FD' model only, so only ever manufactured as a 1983 model year.

That's a nice looking example - the blue ones are faster .

Here is the version Canada got and other countries I think. I like the gold. I also like the rear sets and lower clip on style bars.

The CB1100F was available in different markets, such as USA, Canada, Europe, and Australia from 1982 through 1984. In the USA, a quarter-fairing for wind deflection (and looks), and cast single piece wheels were offered. The other markets had not the fairing, and the wheels were gold "boomerang" Comstars, similar to the ones on the Honda CB1100R, and the control cables were routed above, rather than below, the handlebars. The riding position was more sporty than the US model, with rearset footpegs and controls as well as lower two-piece clip-on handlebars. These different parts were originally offered through US dealers as a complete sport, or "continental" kit, and now command a price premium in the US as owners seek to upgrade their machines.

I just got off the phone with him. It's sold already. An exporter in Florida bought it from him, and has a buyer in Japan lined up.

                He got $8,000 for it.

I didn't realize it has less than 3,000 miles on it. It was parked in a flooring supply store in downstate Illinois for fifteen years, after the owner (of both the bike and store) lost interest in riding it.

He bought it in 2005 and had been working on it off and on ever since. He's gone through 6 different sets of exhaust pipes (the originals were discarded for a 4 into 1 header), always replacing the one he had for a nicer one when he found one.

If you're looking for a bike to ride, yes.

I doubt this bike will ever be ridden again. I imagine it will be going into some Japanese Millionaire's living room, alongside his sandcast CB750 and CBX, both in like new condition as well.

I wonder what the Japanese buyer will end up paying ?

Oddly enough, I discovered that my friend is friends with the guy who sold this:

They are both old motorcycle mechanics.
