    Newbie on his 3rd GS

New to the community, not to the bikes. I've owned a 79 GS550E, an 81 GS550L, and now an 84 GS550ES. I actually found this forum because I'm trying to track down a set of side covers to match the bike. The owner before me decided to spray paint them flat black for whatever reason. So now I'm left with either repainting the whole bike, or finding replacement covers. The bike only has 12k miles on it.

    Hello dcarstens.

    Welcome to the forum.

Why can't you clean or repaint the covers?

I thought about repainting them, but the paint on the bike is 30 years old so getting it to match and look good seems out of the realm of possibility.
