Picking up my first GS1000G, need to know the length

Hi I've just won an ebay auction for an '81 GS1000G
It's 400 miles away and I was hoping to pick it up in the back of my VW Caravelle.
I'd ride it but it has no MOT or road tax
We've managed before with just taking 3 seats out
    We've had a Suzuki VanVan RV200, a Honda CB250K4 and a CB200 in with no problems.
I can't find anywhere with a measurement from the front of the front tyre to the rear light, can anyone help ?

    This is the bike

7 feet tire to tire. Beautiful looking bike, congratulations.

Thanks that makes it 3 inches longer than her RV200, it should fit

This was hers in the back

You can add a couple more inches to that measurement to include the rear fender. I thought you were putting the bike on a carrier of some sort. You'll be able to make it fit, I can see you're the type of "where there's a will there's a way" fella.

I certainly am but I think I might be pushing with 3 adults/3Kids plus the bike.
800 mile round trip with the last 340 including the bike in the back
With the ANPR cameras on the motorway and in all police cars I'd never get away with riding it home with no MOT and Tax
