    New project kaw.

This was dropped off to me last night a 81 csr650 Gsxr front Busa rear was built by a guy I know currently owned by the same guy that has that sweet fzr from the wheel swap fiasco. This should be easier he just wants different seat tail. I suggested a gpz seat tail to match tank but he wants cafe style see next pic.

Somebody put a lot of work into that. That is really modded out. It is hardly recognizable as a KZ650 CSR. Only the paint job hearkens back to the era (though from a different bike--ELR). It seems that the engine must have been modified to make it match the rest of the work that has been done. What can you tell us about the engine?

I like the all black seat better.

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

Looks like stock Kawasaki carbs but the PO went to the trouble of painting the engine . . . must have done something to make it match the looks.

The plan for the mount for seat/tail is an aluminum plate bolted to the frame at the battery box. Then panhead screws through seat pan into plate. I got a piece of 1/2" plate that gives the correct position for the base. Got the shape layed out and decided instead of paying someone to cut it I went a got a bandsaw that I've been needing for these type of projects.

Got the saw up and running tonight and got most of the cutting done on seat mount plate. Tomorrow finish cutting and get the sander I got up and running.

Finally got the kz seat project done today. Turned out ok just wish I had a mill to make the cutouts a little nicer. Couple more pics to follow.

The base plate attaches to the frame via the 4 countersunk holes to the battery box mount.

Seat base screws to alum. plate with 4 panhead screws with spacer bushings as not to crush fiberglass. Then Velcro on the seat.
