1982 Eddie Lawson Replica I found in storage

So it is time for me to come out of the closet on my newest purchase. 4 weeks ago I quite fortunately stumbled across a bike on my dream list, a 1982 Eddie Lawson Replica with 5000 original miles on the clock. The bike had been in dry, climate controlled storage for the last 18 years & had been properly drained and prepped for long term storage. After diligent research on this particular ELR verifying it's history as well as corresponding Engine & VIN numbers the seller and I made a deal.

I got the bike to my shop and did the basic expected tune-up to prepare it for starting after it's 18 year slumber. After a thorough carb cleaning, fuel lines, filters, oil & fluids Lawson was ready to roll. Thanks to Z1 Enterprises for the FAST shipping of the Kawasaki airbox intake boots. He started on the first rotation. Beautiful, booming sound from the OE Kerker comp pipe! Other than some dust and dirt the bike cleaned up nicely with a deep shine in it's factory colors. Honestly, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to own this awesome, rare machine.

Yeah I bet he would, lol! For an original low milage 82 like this one that would be very lite. But thanks Chuck you are correct not a bike I want to flip.

Congratulation on a great find Sir. Glad it went to a great home. Looks super clean!!

Bet that comp baffle sounds pretty good around 8 grand.

                      Enjoy it.

                          It is a beauty, Viper.
Love the size of the baffle in that muffler. Not passing too many db checks with that. haha.

Congratulations on finding such an awesome example! The 82 is the model that inspired me to purchase the KZ1100R. Yours is so original, I wonder what you think of the stock shocks on the bike. Not being very forward thinking I threw the stockers in the garbage almost immediately, man they were tough riding!

There is the kz1000r.com forum where guys are attempting to record the vin numbers and keep a record of the R models. It'd be nice to have your bike registered there if it isn't already.

I'd like to pester you about how much you paid for it as well... but I'm too much a gentleman.

And that one was an 83, the 82's are a little tougher to find.
