LOL! Nice find. The KZ1000R1 is truly a special bike. Now we can start our own club of TWO! As far as I can figure my 82 ELR is one of the only ones left registered and on the road in the United States. Even guy's that own 83 R2's drop to their knees and pay homage to the far more rare Lawson R1. Collectors really know the differences! If it were me I would try and leave it original as possible. The collectors that I have met that love the R1 like them original. I am excited to see it when it is all cleaned up! The one in the Barber museum is all original down to the scratches on the tank and frame except it appears have a newer Kerker muffler on it. And it has Eddie's signature on the tank.

              Sweet score!

Man, that is one cool driveway!

Even though I'm a Suzi man now, if I had to pick just one, it would be the special K. Or the Cooley. Or the Kat.

Those three, winding out side-by-side, now that's an air-cooled symphony.
