    Modern riding gear forum?

Hi folks, I haven't swung a leg over anything- cycle wise - since '96, but just recently bought myself an '80 GS850G. I love the style of her and I'm in the process of going thru the bike to get it road ready......this just leaves me my fully antiquated cycle wardrobe tastes...still have my Shoei X-8 helmet along with my Bombardier modular - loved that drop down tint shield around sunset!
I no longer posess my old leather jacket nor engineer boots that I used to love riding in....so I wanted to see what others are wearing now-a-days....tech gear, boots, gloves, helmets. I have a pair of old kawi sleds...I like old stuff...and love wearing the Reima tech suit with padding...whats out there for motorcyclists? I think a forum could be useful for advice/input for the added needed part of riding a cycle...protection.

Honestly, I don't think a separate forum is needed for that. Those questions come up so infrequently that the general discussion one or the buyers reviews work very nicely. Do a titles only search for jackets, helmets, etc if you want to see anything that's been asked already

I stayed with leather jacket, brown leather, even after most were using the textile jackets (well, except for bikers, they don't wear plastic crap. I have heard.).

Then 3 days before a 4 day ride, the zipper broke, so I hurriedly got a TourMaster jacket at a local dealer. Was great.
That weekend I had a miss hap at a stop on an incline, were I fell over hard on the far low side, landed directly on my shoulder. Got right back up, picked up bike and went on my way. Later was thinking that that should have hurt, I could have really messed up my shoulder. Then thought of the armor in the shoulder and how it spread the impact over a larger area and had cushioning in it (plastic cup shaped like shoulder, kinda like a little helmet).
And the textile jacket is not so terrible uncomfortable in warm weather, and is warmer when it is cold out.

      2008 I think.

Never did get the leather jacket repaired.

As a bit of a safety geek, my next jacket to replace my circa 2000 First Gear Kilamnjaro will be a hi viz yellow Jacket.
My current one has held up great, although its claim of being waterproof is no longer valid.
