View Full Version : Problems logging in after yesterday's update

Yesterday's Contributor status update apparently changed some people's passwords. The key problem some folks are experiencing is that they didn't keep their email address current so any reset emails the system sends out is going to a dead email address. To make the matters worse, some folks are creating new forum accounts using their new current address. They want to keep their old account and update their old account to the new email address but the forum software only allows one account per email address. Confused yet?

So in order to fix a broken account you'll have to coordinate things with me to fix this. If you are having login problems then email me at my new email address at frank1@thegsresources.com and I'll work with you to get this straightened out.

At this point I still don't know what caused all of this. The investigation continues after I fix some accounts.

OK, I went through the server and there is no problem there. At this point all I can surmise is that something on my PC changed the password field when I was updating the contribution status in the admin screen. I tested it today on my account and didn't have any problems with it. So I'll keep an eye on the next few contributions we get and see if I see anything goofy happen.

I appreciate your patience and I'm sorry about the hassle it created. It sucks to pay money and lose your access to the website, eh? :nightmare::nightmare:

Any possibility it is related to now having 3 statuses (statii?).
Not certain, but I think I previously had 2 statuses.

Har Har. I had possibly similar trouble at work when export a database (config file or such), make some changes, then Import back in.

I shudder to think of all the problems I had to deal with at work (past tense).

And then think that such problems are what you are dealing with, as a service to us.

NO, there isn't any relationship there with the statuses other than I'm on a screen where everything is on it including the password field. Don't know but I'll keep an eye out for it now that I know something is going on.

I thought that including the fact that you were a past supporter as well as a current one would be nice. I think that's something to be proud of.
