slight clear coat damage

is there a good way to remove pencil point blemishes off my fuel tank w/o repainting? it looks like just slight clear coat damage.

There is a white polishing compound that is safe for clear coat. Any auto parts store should have it in the wax and cleaner section.

3M makes a three part paint repair system that will work wonders on any and all damage damn near as long as it is only in the clear coat and not down to the color coat. It consists of three grades of polishing compunds, they are ebony for deep stuff followed by finishing material to removes scratches and to reduce the swirls in paint and final finish which restores the lustre to the painted part. In some cases you need to start with 1500 grit wet sand then work your way through the 3 step process.
