I have a '82 GS850G, I want to change to Accel coils/wires/caps but they are asking what ohm reading to determine what set-up I nead.( Weather the bike is CDI or inductive ignition.) Help Please

You'll need 3 ohm coils and you do have a CDI box for your stock ignition. 8)

Actually it's inductive and you do need 3 ohm coils.

            Mark,
It's a common mistake. CDI is used on race bikes and two-strokes that live in the upper revs.

I don't think there are many CDIs on non-2 strokes. Inductive is the normal ignition system, just switched electronically.

I used to have an MSD CDI box on a few cars I owned..what a strong spark!!! All were powered by the humble points, which only had the switch the CDI on and off rather than take all the ignition load...they lasted longer, acted more like an electronic ignition.
