    Sputters and dies...

Went on a great ride last week that started out with a whimper...as less than 5 miles from home the bike sputtered and died. Are we havin' fun yet? It felt like fuel starvation and that was the problem. I had filled the tank at a gas station that had very slow pumping fuel and I was afraid their storage tanks were almost empty and I got a tank of watery gas or one with sediment/rust. To look at the fuel filter on my bike I unbolted the tank and noticed the vacuum line had split at the end and was no longer connected to the nipple on the petcock. No vac, no fuel flow and no carb operation. A snip of the bad end and away we go.
So, if your bike ever sputters and dies you might check this out if you haven't replaced the vacuum line recently.
Working...
