I am going to bring a bike back from the USA. However after investigating what's involved it looks like a complicated process these days? Any real world experience lately? Bike is an 85 and the older bikes aren't specifically mentioned in the RIV instructions. It looks like on the newer ones you need emission proof and safety spec compliance docs and maybe a letter from the Pope.
Thanks

Hey all, so I'm having the classic "hanging idle", but mine also seems to increase as well. I'll get the bike running, it'll be fine and then sit high and sometimes keep going up on its own. I've read that this can be an air leak issue and I've tried the unlit propane torch trick and the RPM didn't move no matter where I put the torch. I'm not saying it's not a leak, but I found that curious and I'm not really sure of any other reliable way to test that. The boots are also still pretty soft and I don't see any cracks (also they don't have o-rings? Picture below)

While we're at it, what carbs are these? Supposedly this model has the BS34SS but I'm pretty certain this is the BS32SS (notice how the intake side only has 3 holes instead of 5). With that, how many turns is the fuel mixture screw (in red of other picture) supposed to be

IMG20260328173740_preview.jpg

I've cleaned these, checked all the holes, verified there's no tears in the diaphragm, the slide seems to move correctly. I've adjusted the float height to what I _think_ is correct (around 22mm. It was at 17). I'm at a loss here

To recap:

[1] Any ideas on the weird idle? I was running rich (confirmed by checking spark plugs) to begin with and I thought I fixed it but now it's weird
[2] What is the correct fuel mixture screw setting for this carb? (Right now I'm around 2 turns out)
[3] What is the correct float height for this carb? (I think it's around 22mm, which is where I am now)
[4] What is the recommended place to get o-rings now? (From looking in the forum, I saw that cycleorings is no longer operating)

Thanks everyone

Tak Tak Tok....one thousand and one....Tak Tak Tok (and repeat)
Hi folks, been guided here for some advice and I think I have read everything on the net as to what it might be. Naaaarrrg!
1980 GS1000 G 64,000 Kms...new to me
Noise goes above 1500 RPM
Tilting bike doesn't effect noise in any way, does this eliminate cam end float?
If it was end float, why would it not do it when cold?
If its timing chain, again why not when cold?
Bike runs fine and strong. Just changed oil and filter.
Im about to lift the cam cover, would really appreciate any pointers as to where to look for the source of the noise?
Thanks for taking the time to read this

Just when you think it's all been done THIS happens.

Many music fans look back and name moments when someone or a group releases something groundbreaking, music so divergent from anything else that's come before it that it revolutionizes everything that comes after. THIS is one of those moments!

The mainstream favorites all stand on their own merits, no need to rehash that. Then there's the odd and eccentric, such as hearing Capt Beefhearts Trout Mask Replica or seeing Devo for the first time. Today the bar has been raised by a duo out of Quebec called Angine de Poitrine with both their music and stage presence!

They're a drummer and guitarist who plays a double neck rig with both a six string and bass guitar in one instrument, fretted in 1/4 steps instead of the typical 1/2 steps known as Microtonal. For the average listener it basically means he's able to play the notes between the standard notes, something better left heard than discussed. Along with that he uses a number of looping pedals which he uses his bare feet to control the knobs and switches.

So take the aforementioned Capt Beefheart and Devo, throw in some Robert Fripp and Les Claypool along with elements of free jazz and you start to get a description of this stuff. Utterly mind blowing! Yes, there is hope that actual humans will win the war against the A.I. machines when it comes to music. If not, these boys will mark humanities last stand.
What's the general consensus regarding pod filters instead of the factory air box?
I know on the 1979-1983 Honda CB750-1100 bikes it is not recommended because the Honda's particular carb. design requires there be somewhat of a restriction in airflow for the carbs to work properly.

Hi, I have tried several times to edit my signature however, no success. I have followed the instructions provided on the forum and have gone it to my "Account" and highlighted the "Show Avatars", " Show Signature", and selected "Posts" in the Display Mode section.

Each time I click on the red Edit Signature and type in the new details and hit enter I receive a notice saying the edit can not be done because of the 150 character limit (the new edit is way under the 150 limit) and refers to a "BB Code Mark-up".

I am under the 150 limit but have no idea what the BB Code Mark-up is. I have done a search but no info on the BB Code Markup came to light. Could someone please help me with advice on how to conform to whatever the BB Code Mark-up is and what I need to do to edit my signature block.
Thank you in advance.
He worked in the auto paint business and had the 550 and 1000 done up like Wes Cooley reps. We kinda drifted apart because he started a new job that had him on the road but we text from time to time. He had quit riding a couple of years ago and this week he text with a pic of the 550 and said come get it or find someone that wanted it. Now i had worked on, tuned and ridden this bike many times so it had to stay in the family. I had one back in the day and loved it. SO here it is, sitting since 2010.
As morals and morality itself increasingly become unwelcome in the lives of a great many, the injuries this causes to innocents is lost in the darkness.
Perhaps deliberately.

Sexually Transmitted DISEASES are carried and transmitted by millions, but today we euphemistically call them "infections" to deflect our guilt and feel better about ourselves.

My wife gave me this story about a small boy who is losing his eye because of someone passing on their DISEASE by kissing the child.

Here is the story link:

https://www.uniladtech.com/news/todd...81003-20260129

Our family is painfully aware of how other peoples sexual habits can be passed on to children.

This has happened to our own child.

How did it affect us?

Children from another family, one four years and one five years older than our child, really liked him and kissed him when he visited their home.
Our son was four years old at the time..
The girls were only 8 and 9 years old.

They....and we....just like the mother in the article.......were unaware of how serious this could become, but those kisses transmitted their genital herpes to him.
He developed warts on his face.....many of them, as they itched and spread when he scratched them.

It has taken two years of treatment to eliminate those warts from his face.....at our own cost.

Where did the girls get the disease?
From their father.

Where did their father get the disease?
From one or more prostitutes

The mother, father and daughters all still live together
The father continues visiting his disease sources.

The girls still have the disease.
