    Rear Wheel Bearings

    Hi All

Me and the boy have just swapped an old 16” Kawasaki back wheel (why?) for the Original 18” Mag wheel. Replaced bearings etc … but notice the kit come with a nylon bearing cover for sprocket hub carrier … but not the other side? No details I can find state whether a bearing cover should be on the disk side … or it’s specs? I assume there should be one. Any sage advice welcome
best wishes Niall and Fergus (GS550E 1980)

Just to clarify … we removed the old Kawasaki wheel, and replaced it with the original 18” mag wheel …. I noticed my wording was a bit poor and possibly confusing!!!! So it is whether there should be a bearing cover on the rear disk side, and if there are specs (e.g. outer diameter, inner and width/depth of nylon cover). Many thanks.

Hi,Burny. You're in the wrong place. A lot of people will never notice it here.We have a section for that. Possibly you can move your thread to there.

From memory the wheel spacer covers the bearing on that side. The bearings should be sealed type (either on only the outside or both sides) in any case.

RS type or 2 RS type. http://www.engineerstudent.co.uk/bea...explained.html
