    1980 - 1982 GS450 Carb Spec's (E, L, S, and T)

I've been promising for ages to put up the correct factory carb spec's for the 450's from my factory repro. manual.

I have it here in front of me, and while I thought it covered all the '80's 450's, it only has the detailed spec's for the 1980 - 1982 models.

So here they are. Measurements are mm (in)

    Type: Mikuni BS34SS
    Bore Size: 34
    ID Number: 44100 (Germany: 44120)
    Idle: 1200 +/- 50 RPM
    Fuel Level: 6.5 +/- 0.5 (0.26 +/- 0.02)
    Float Height: 26.6 +/- 1.0 (1.05 +/- 0.04)
    Main Jet: 117.5 (Germany: 112.5)
    Jet Needle: 4C3-3 (Germany 4F29-4)
    Needle Jet: Y-6 (Germany Y-2)
    Pilot Jet: 17.5 (Germany 22.5)
    Valve seat: 2.0
    Pilot screw: 2.0

I hope that clears up all confusion for these! The Clymer is wrong!!!

I will also pass this info on to BassCliff to get his chart updated.

I also must mention that the Alpha Sports parts fiche lists the US models having a main jet of 115 and a Jet Needle as a 4C2, but this is not reflected in the factory manual at all, and in fact it explicitly states the above are for all countries except Germany where identified.

I'm going to guess that those are made slightly leaner for some emissions laws that probably only affected the bikes once they arrived in the US and so aren't reflected from the factory.

Mate hit up eBay seller eClassic Bike, or something like that. See if he has a factory reproduction manual for your bike as well, that's where I got mine. $30 plus shipping cheap as chips and extremely helpful!
