1985 GS550L clutch actuator pin

So ive pulled this motor out of an old chopper i had a couple years ago and am currently in the process of building a new one. I do remember that the pin that is in the case that the clutch cover goes over used to have like a springy motion to it, i could push it in and a spring would push it back out. now the pin is solid, i can remove it completely so its not seized in there it just doesnt push in and out like it used to. I dont know what to do now that the thing is almost done and i built the frame from scratch with custom motor mounts for this motor i hope i didnt screw myself. any info would be greatly appriciated. thanks.
