Valve seals are most likely
Adjust the valves and check the compression - if the compression is good= valve seals
If it doesn't suck much oil, just ride it until you replace them (can be replaced w/o tearing down the motor)1978 GS 1000 (since new)

A good way to tell if it's genuine '80 "S" is whether it has rear set pegs or not. The easy clue is whether it has a linkage/rod for the gear shifter or the shifter just attached directly to the shifter shaft like on your "G".'84 GS750EF (Oct 2015 BOM) '79 GS1000N (June 2007 BOM)Comment
