Cylinder head - upper surface - flattening small nicks ?

    I have a GS550et 1980 bike.

I note on my cylinder head face between the top and cylinder cam cover is nicked in areas.
I am convinced i have a small oil leak on the cam cover and want to dot all the "i's" this time.
    - new gasket, dress it with wellseal ..... etc.

How could i flatten these out ? should i even bother ?

When i have taken my barrels and heads to a machine company to skim , to check they
have quickly got a long file out and sort of brushed it over the faces a half dozen times
to then test the degree of warpage (it gets a clean surface). doing this might even sort the nicks ?
Should this be done - where do you get such a file ?

You can use a LITTLE high heat silicone.
