Need help with 1150 gauges and bars..

Will an 82-83 top clamp bolt up to an 86 1150? Reason I ask is I want to use regular handlebars and the gauge setup from an 82-83.

The gauge cluster from the 82 and 83 GS1100's have mechanical tachometers where the 1150 has an electronic tach

I believe for you to run the 82 or 83 tach you would have to have a drive gear on the cam for the tach to meet up with.
Now you could probably run a tach otherwise, but I do agree that the 83 runs mechanical tach.
I had a gauge set off of a 84 ,I just got rid of ,sorry

I thought with a gauge and handlebar swap I could warm up to the 1150's looks, but I don't think I can. Something about that tail section...
